Seabrook, TX – On Friday, October 4, 2024, the Seabrook Police Department, along with Emergency Medical Services and the Volunteer Fire Department, responded to reports of a gunshot at the Teakwood Apartment Complex, located at 2401 Repsdorph Road, Seabrook, Texas 77586.
Officers arrived at the scene at approximately 11:30 a.m. and discovered a deceased female inside an apartment. The victim was identified as Mary Jane Collins, a Black female born on October 6, 2000. The next of kin has been notified.
Two young children were found unharmed inside the apartment and were safely removed from the scene. Based on concerns that the suspect might still be inside, SWAT was called to assist with securing the area.
SWAT conducted a search of the apartment, but the suspect was not located. As a precaution, residents of the Teakwood Apartment Complex were instructed to shelter in place while the investigation was ongoing. The shelter-in-place order was lifted at approximately 3:50 p.m. once the area was deemed safe by officials.
The Seabrook Police Department is continuing efforts to identify the suspect. Preliminary findings suggest that Mary Jane Collins knew her assailant, and there is no ongoing threat to the Seabrook community.
