Recycling & Waste Collection Improvements

We are pleased to announce that the City of Seabrook has renewed our contract with Waste Management and we will now be offering several improvements to your service. Beginning January 8, 2018, Waste Management will introduce Automated Side Loader (ASL) trucks for residential waste and recycling collection. These trucks are fully automated, safer and quieter for more dependable, reliable recycling cart service. We will also be offering a new, exciting service call At Your Door, which will allow you to properly dispose of difficult, sometimes hazardous, and hard-to-recycle items.

Please take a moment and review this web page in its entirety. Important changes are being made to your service that you need to be aware of.

Enhanced Recycling CartsRecycling Cart
Tired of taking that small recycling bin to the curb each week? We are pleased to inform you that residential utility customers will be receiving a 96-gallon rolling recycling cart. This cart is almost identical to your current trash cart, however, it will have a YELLOW lid that will identify it as recycling.

Your new cart will be delivered sometime between January 2 and January 6. We will release a delivery schedule when it becomes available.

It is important to note that starting January 8, 2018, the current small recycling bins will NO LONGER be picked up. Waste Management will not be collecting these bins. It is yours, to use as you wish.

New Collection Days

Your collection days may be subject to change. Starting on January 8, 2018, Seabrook will be divided into three Collection Zones. Each zone will have two collection days. Waste will be collected on both collection days, however, bulk items and recycling will occur on different days.

What Will This Cost?

You may be wondering how much these improvements will cost... well you might not believe this, but the cost to residents will only increase their utility bill by $0.97 per month. Yes, you read that right!

If your current bill is $21.58, your new bill will only increase to $22.55. That is less than $1. Customers with additional bins or add-on services may experience a slightly higher bill, but overall the increase is approximately 4%.

Take a moment to review these instructions and requirements necessary for our Automated Side Load (ASL) trucks.

Home Icon Please have your waste and recycling at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on our collection day(s).
Please place all recyclables inside the green cart with yellow lid. Recyclables should be loose inside the cart, not bagged. Additional recyclables outside the cart will not be serviced. Existing recycling bins will not be picked up and can be used as a personal bin in the garage or utility room.
The lid must be securely closed. This ensures that litter is not blown in your neighborhood and that all disposed items are secure. No waste or recyclables left outside your cart will be collected. Bulk, yard trimmings, or excess waste will be collected on your scheduled bulk collection day. Please refer to our interactive Google map
Curb Side Icons

Carts must be placed 5 feet from any obstructions, such as vehicles, mailboxes, meter boxes, cable boxes, or trees - and within 1 foot of the curb. The optimal placement is on the curb. But, we understand that in some areas, the carts must be placed on the street or alleys. Carts must be placed 2 – 3 feet apart to allow for the automated arm to service them.
No hazardous waste in carts. To schedule a pickup or for information, please contact Waste Management at 800-449-7587, e-mail, or visit
Bulk pick up happens on your scheduled collection day, with a limit of two (2) items. Moving boxes must be broken down and put out on this day. Bulk trash consists of appliances, furniture, mattresses, carpet, (cut in 4 foot length), lawn mowers, etc. Appliances that contain refrigerant must be drained and tagged by a certified refrigerant recycler prior to disposal.

Yard trimmings are considered bulk and are not to exceed two (2) cubic bags per week. For the safety and protection of our employees and equipment, we do require that branches and tree trimmings be no greater than six inches (6”) in diameter and be cut, tied and bundled in four foot (4’) lengths weighing no more than forty to fifty pounds (40-50 lbs.)
Do not obstruct collection of carts or bulk items by parking vehicles in the vicinity. Keep area clear for easy access by collection truck.

When Seabrook residents use Recycle Often Recycle Right, great things happen. By recycling everyday items like those shown below, tons of raw materials, time, energy, and money are saved. The recycled materials become new products. If you recycle an aluminum can today, it could be back at the store as a new one in 60 days.

  • Recyclables go in the green cart with the YELLOW
  • Only place acceptable recyclables - no sorting needed.
  • Containers should be rinsed and free of food and liquid.
  • Do not put recyclables in plastic bags.

Recycling will be collected once-a-week. Please see the map for more information.

Acceptable materials for curbside recycling include:
  • Junk mail, office and school paper, phone books, books, catalogs, magazines and newspapers
  • Plastic bottles and containers
  • Glass bottles and jars Chipboard, box board, brown paper bags and cardboard
  • Tin and aluminum cans
  • Paper cardboard, dairy and juice containers

Do NOT recycle the following:
  • No food waste and liquids
  • No foam products
  • No plastic wraps or bags

Missed Collection

Despite our best efforts, we occasionally miss scheduled collections. If we do, please call Waste Management at 800-800-5804 as soon as you can. We’ll try to return on the same day to pick up your waste or recycling. If our driver has already left your area, we’ll pick up what we missed the following day.

Observed Holidays

Holidays may affect regular collection schedules. If your service day falls on or after a Waste Management observed holiday, your service may experience a delay. Holidays observed by Waste Management in Seabrook include:

  • Thanksgiving
  • Christmas Day
  • New Year's Day

Your collection will resume on your next scheduled day.
