Seabrook City Council continues to seek residents to serve on a 2020 Carothers Coastal Gardens (CCG) Task Force to review and provide a proposal on the future usage of the park land owned by the City of Seabrook. CCG is an 8.5-acre park property located next to Pine Gully Park and was purchased by the city as an addition to the park system after a 2007 bond referendum.
Between 2011 and 2018, the park has been utilized primarily as an event venue. In 2019, Seabrook City Council appointed a task force to research ways to utilize the park that would be more beneficial to the public. On January 7, 2020, the 2019 CCG Task Force presented several recommendations to Council on how the park can be used in the immediate future and plans for usage further down the road.
After review and discussion on the proposals by the 2019 CCG Task Force, Council unanimously voted to move forward with the creation of a 2020 CCG Task Force to strategically review and make a recommendation to Council.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 CCG Task Force selection has been delayed. If you would like to apply to serve on the 2020 CCG Task Force, please complete the city’s Boards & Commission Application online at www.seabrooktx.gov/city-board-application on or before June 5, 2020. Council will appoint members to the 2020 CCG Task Force during a City Council meeting in June or July 2020. Appointees to the 2020 CCG Task Force will serve a six-month term.
