City of Seabrook Appoints Rolf Nelson as New Police Chief

SEABROOK, TX – The City of Seabrook is pleased to announce the appointment of Rolf Nelson as the new Chief of Police for the Seabrook Police Department. Following an extensive and meticulous selection process, Rolf was chosen to lead our dedicated law enforcement team. He will officially assume his role as Chief of Police on Monday, September 11, 2023.


Rolf brings an impressive and extensive background in law enforcement to the City of Seabrook. He has served with distinction in various capacities, including Major, Captain, Lieutenant, Sergeant, and Deputy, during his 33-year tenure with the Harris County Sheriff's Office. His exemplary service and leadership in that organization have made him a well-respected figure in the field of law enforcement. Rolf has also served in the United States Army as a Military Police Officer and as a Police Officer for the University of Houston Police Department.


One of the standout aspects of Rolf’s career is his experience as a Senior International Police Officer Liaison in Iraq. This role demonstrates his ability to work effectively in complex and challenging environments, showcasing his dedication to the principles of justice and security both locally and globally.


Throughout his distinguished career, Rolf has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to public safety. He has successfully managed units responsible for investigating a wide range of criminal activities, including homicide, cold cases, robbery, assault, and missing persons cases. His expertise in these areas will undoubtedly be an asset to the Seabrook Police Department and the community it serves.


“Rolf’s service-oriented leadership in his prior positions and professional preparations demonstrated his outstanding qualifications to assume the responsibilities of Seabrook’s next Chief of Police,” said City Manager Gayle Cook. She added, “I am excited for the next chapter for the Police Department and to see the ways which he plans to build upon community engagement and officer recruitment and retention.”


Rolf is equally excited about the opportunity to serve the City of Seabrook and its residents. "I am honored to have been selected as the new Chief of Police for Seabrook," he remarked. "I am committed to working tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of our community. Together with the dedicated men and women of the Seabrook Police Department, I look forward to building upon the strong foundation of trust and service that the department has established."
