The City of Seabrook Earns Bronze Scenic City Certification
Seabrook, TX – The City of Seabrook is pleased to announce that it has been awarded the prestigious Bronze Scenic City Certification, recognizing its commitment to enhancing the beauty and quality of public spaces. The award was presented at a ceremony on Thursday, October 5, 2023, in Dallas, Texas, as part of the Texas Municipal League's Annual Conference. Seabrook was among the 23 cities across the state to receive this distinguished certification.
The Scenic City Certification Program is dedicated to supporting and acknowledging Texas municipalities that implement high-quality scenic standards for public areas. This program serves as a highly regarded tool for the assessment, evaluation, and recognition of infrastructure standards in Texas cities.
Cities participating in the Scenic City certification program are evaluated on various criteria, including streetscape design, parks, trails, public spaces, on-premise and off-premise signage ordinances, lighting standards, landscaping in parking lots, protection of landscaping during construction activities, design standard ordinances, litter, and graffiti control, utility and cable line management, dumpster screening, and more. Seabrook's dedication to improving these aspects of its community led to the well-deserved recognition.
Mayor Thom Kolupski expressed the city's pride in achieving this significant milestone. "Receiving the Bronze Scenic City Certification is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our city staff and leadership to enhance the aesthetics and quality of life in Seabrook. We are committed to continuing our efforts to make Seabrook a beautiful and welcoming place to live, work, and play."
“Scenic City Certification shines a light on Seabrook's strong commitment to high-quality municipal standards, scenic conservation, and public spaces,” said Brenda Dees, executive director of Scenic Texas. “This recognition is intended to support cities that have a long-range vision, and high-quality municipal standards, and we hope it incentivizes other Texas cities to follow Seabrook's example.”
Our goal is to help Texas cities improve the quality of life for all cities while sowing the seeds for Texas preservation and scenic conservation.
Seabrook's dedication to the principles of the Scenic City Certification Program aligns with its vision for a better and more visually appealing community. This achievement will further enhance Seabrook's reputation as a city that values its natural surroundings and the quality of life for its residents.
