Make some friends at Friendship Park! This ten-acre park is packed with sports facilities and opportunities for fun. One is never enough here; with five soccer fields, a Gaga ball pit, and three baseball backstops, there's enough room for everyone who wants to play. The playground, picnic areas, and concession stand also make watching from the sidelines anything but boring.

Located on the corner of Red Bluff Road and Park Drive, this location is easy to access from most of Seabrook's residential areas. The kids inside might delight in knowing that Friendship Park features old-school style playground equipment, such as a tire swing, monkey bars, and the city's only merry-go-round!

What Is Gaga Ball?

Gaga Ball is a fast-paced, high-energy game that’s a mix between dodgeball and four-square. It's played inside a walled, octagonal pit and is popular with kids and teens. The game is easy to learn, fun to play, and encourages movement, agility, and sportsmanship.

How to Play Gaga Ball

Objective

  • Be the last player remaining in the pit by avoiding getting hit by the ball.

Setup

  • Played in a Gaga Ball pit (usually octagonal and low-walled).
  • You need one soft ball (foam or rubber).
  • Any number of players can join, but 6–15 players is ideal.

Starting the Game

  • All players stand inside the pit and touch a wall with one hand.
  • One player tosses the ball in the center of the pit.
  • Everyone shouts “Ga-ga-ball” as the ball bounces three times.
  • On the third bounce, the ball is in play.

Game Rules

  • Players use an open hand to hit the ball; no throwing or catching is allowed.
  • The ball must stay below the knees. If it hits you on or below the knee, you're out.
  • If the ball flies out of the pit, the last player to touch it is out.
  • Players cannot hold the ball; they can only tap it.
  • Once out, players leave the pit and cheer from the sidelines.
  • The last player standing wins!

Optional Rules (for added challenge)

  • No wall-jumping or wall-hugging.
  • No double hits unless the ball touches another player or the wall first.
  • Re-entry rounds for eliminated players can be added in longer games.
