Holidays

City offices are closed to observe nine holidays per year. These holidays are:

  • New Years Day
  • Good Friday
  • Memorial Day
  • July 4
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving (two days)
  • Christmas Eve
  • Christmas Day

Two floating holidays are also given for Columbus Day or Veterans Day. They can be exchanged for Martin Luther King Jr Day, President’s Day, Cinco de Mayo, Rosh Hashanah, or Hanukkah or other dates with supervisor approval. 

Personal Leave

Eight hours of personal leave may be taken one hour at a time.

Sick Leave

Employees are allowed up to 64 hours of sick leave per year accrued at 2.4 hours per pay period.

Vacation

Part-time employees accrue vacation hours at the rate of 4% of hours worked. (ie: 40 hours worked = 1.6 accrued hours)

Health Insurance

The city's health insurance plan is provided by AETNA with a $500 deductible.

Wellness Plan

Once a year, the city sponsors a Health Day where employees are offered a blood screening and flu shot.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

EAP is sponsored by CIGNA and information is available by calling (800) 538.3543 or visit their website; username and ID are available from the human resources department.

Life Insurance

The city pays 100% of a life insurance benefit equal to the employee’s annual rate of pay.

Long Term Disability (LTD)

LTD is paid 100% by the city and provides 60% of annual income.

Long Term Care

The city pays 100% of a $1,000 per month facility benefit with a lifetime max of $24,000. Additional coverage can be added and paid 100% by the employee.

Worker's Compensation

Worker's Compensation is city-paid insurance for injuries sustained within the course and scope of employment for the city.

Family & Medical Leave Act (FMLA)

Eligible employees are provided 12 weeks of unpaid leave per FMLA.

Longevity Pay

Annual payment of $5 per month of service after 12 months of continuous service, paid in December each year.

Deferred Compensation

Employees may participate in the ICMA 457K plan. The deferred compensation plan is optional.

Credit Union

Automatic deductions can be arranged to the facility of your choice. This plan is optional.
