Bay Area Veteran's Memorial

Bay Area Veterans Memorial Logo

Located by the water on Main Street, the Bay Area Veterans Memorial is a peaceful place for remembering all who served and are currently serving in the United States military. The memorial honors all branches of government and anyone who has lived or is currently living in Bay Area Houston may purchase an inscribed brick or plaque for placement at the memorial.

The memorial is managed by the City of Seabrook with an oversight task force that reviews all inscription requests. If you have questions about the memorial please send us an email.

History

Bruce and Jenny Arunyon along with Joe Ferella worked diligently to make the Bay Area Veterans Memorial a reality. After searching the entire region, the Arunyons discovered that the Clear Lake region did not have a veterans memorial. Many traveled to Houston to visit memorials so as residents of Seabrook, they felt Seabrook would make the perfect location for the Bay Area Veterans Memorial. The Arunyons and Ferella designed the entire memorial, including additional construction phases and held countless fundraisers to help fund the project.

In October 2013, Joe Ferella passed after a long battle with cancer and a granite plaque has been placed at the memorial in his honor. Ferella served in the US Army, 82nd Airborne from 1964 to 1966.

Task Force

The City of Seabrook donated the land for the Bay Area Veterans Memorial in 2012 and then in 2017, the city assumed ownership of the project. The Bay Area Veterans Memorial Task Force serves as an advisory committee for the memorial and manages the sale of bricks, granite plaques, events and memorial maintenance.
